# Commissions

Two commissions are charged on every submerchant transaction:

- **SimPay commission** - SimPay's fee for processing the payment,
- **Flow commission** - your fee as the Flow service owner.


The rest of the transaction amount goes to the submerchant. The following rule always applies:

Once the transaction is paid, your Flow commission goes to your SimPay wallet.

## Rates

Rates are set separately for each payment method (channel).

| Rate | Set by | Description |

| **Flow commission limits** (`max`) | SimPay | Maximum percentage and maximum fixed fee you can charge |

You set your rates in the SimPay Partner Panel, in the Flow service settings.

### Default and dedicated rates

- **Default rates** apply to all submerchants of the Flow service. They are created automatically when SimPay approves the Flow service - for every available payment method.
- **Dedicated rates** can be set for a selected submerchant (e.g. under an individual agreement). They replace the default rates for that submerchant. Removing a dedicated rate restores the default rate.


A payment method is available to submerchants only when it has an active rate in your Flow service. In the Partner Panel you can enable and disable the payment methods offered in your Flow service - enabling a new method creates a default rate for it. Disabling a default rate doesn't disable dedicated rates.

## Commission modes

The commission mode determines how your commission is calculated and who covers it. The mode is set when the Flow service is created - you'll find it in the `commissionMode` field of the [`GET /flow/{flowServiceId}`](/apis/flow/flowgetservice) response. Once submerchants have made their first transactions, the mode can no longer be changed.

### `markup`

Your commission is calculated **on the transaction amount** (percentage + fixed fee) and added to the SimPay commission.

- When the submerchant covers the commission - both commissions are deducted from the transaction amount.
- When the payer covers the commission - both commissions are added to the amount paid by the customer, and the submerchant receives the full order amount.


### `submerchant_share`

Your commission is calculated **on the transaction amount** (percentage + fixed fee), just like in the `markup` mode.

- When the submerchant covers the commission - it works the same as `markup`.
- When the payer covers the commission - the payer covers only the SimPay commission, and your commission is **always deducted from the submerchant's amount**.


### `simpay_share`

Your commission is a **percentage of the SimPay commission** (e.g. `30` = 30% of the SimPay commission). The submerchant pays only the SimPay commission, and SimPay shares it with you. In this mode the Flow rate can only have a percentage part (max. `100`) - no fixed fee.

### `commission_to_service`

A mode for **payment institutions**. SimPay takes its commission, and **the entire remaining transaction amount** goes to the Flow service (not to the submerchant). Settlement with the submerchant is on your side. Flow commission rates don't apply in this mode.

### Example

Transaction of **PLN 100.00**, SimPay commission **1.5%**, the submerchant covers the commission:

## Commissions in the API

You'll find the rates for each submerchant channel in the `commission` field of the [`GET .../payment-channels`](/apis/flow/flowgetsubmerchantpaymentchannels) response:
